NEWS ITEM – Evening of classics at Cathedral !!
13th November, 2019
Join us for an elegant evening of well-loved classics presented by the Cathedral Choir and the St George’s College Chamber Orchestra this Sunday evening at 7:15pm !!
This vibrant group of young musicians present a programme featuring Bach’s B minor Suite, Vivaldi’s Magnificat RV 610 and Laudate Pueri RV 600 (soloist Emma Oorschot) and a rarely heard solo cantata of Dietrich Buxtehude titled Ich bin eine Blume zu Saron (soloist Joshua Adams) – a setting of several verses of the Song of Songs.
A charming addition to the programme is Handel’s Organ Concerto in F major HWV 295 – it’s nicknamed the ‘Cuckoo Concerto’ – why? Listen out for the cuckoo-like bird calls played on solo organ in the 2nd movement !!
