Rev Fr Conor Steadman

Father Conor Steadman was born in Auckland, New Zealand on 10 April 1982, the eldest of three children of Liam Brian and Mary Geraldine Steadman. His family emigrated to Perth towards the end of 1985. He was educated at St. Simon Peter Catholic Primary School and Prendiville Catholic College, both in Ocean Reef. Following secondary school, he enrolled at the University of Western Australia, Crawley, graduating in 2006 with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours).

After working for a few years in full time dental practice, Father Steadman, entered began his studies for the priesthood at St. Charles Seminary, Guildford. In July 2011, he was sent to complete his theological studies at the Pontifical North American College, Rome. There he completed a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology in 2014 and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology in 2016, both at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum). He was ordained as a deacon in St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome, by the Archbishop of Washington, Donald Cardinal Wuerl on 2 October 2014, and then as a priest in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Perth, by the Archbishop of Perth, Timothy Costelloe SDB on 1 August 2015.

Father Steadman was appointed as an assistant priest at the Cathedral in July 2016.

Rev Fr Stephen Gorddard

Fr Stephen Gorddard grew up in Bunbury, the youngest of 4 children. His parents Elaine and Robert imparted to him a strong faith and values, in which prayer was a part of daily life in the family. He attended St Joseph’s Primary School in Bunbury and later Bunbury Catholic College where, after doing well in his studies, moved to Perth to study a double degree at Curtin University of Bachelors of Chemical Engineering and Commerce, majoring in Management.

During these studies, Fr Stephen discerned a calling to the priesthood. He left his studies to work a few years in different jobs, while also being very involved in youth ministry. In 2009, he entered St Charles Seminary, Guildford, at the same time as his older brother, Fr Grant. The two were ordained deacons in 2014, and later priests at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Perth, by the Archbishop of Perth, Timothy Costelloe SDB on 1 August 2015. He was appointed as a deacon to St Brigid’s Midland. After ordination to the priesthood, he was appointed as assistant priest to Mary MacKillop Catholic Community Church in Ballajura before his current appointment as assistant priest to the Cathedral in February 2018.

Rev Fr Jeffey Casabuena

Fr Jeffey Casabuena was born on 21 January 1980 in Hacienda San Roque, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, Philippines. He is the youngest of the seven children of Flocerfida (née Ledoma) and the late Jessie Casabuena Sr.

His journey to the priesthood started when he entered the seminary in 1999 at Sacred Heart Seminary, Bacolod City, Philippines, and finished his Bachelor of Arts Major in Philosophy in 2004. He took up his Sacred Theology Degree at the Pontifical and Royal University Of Santo Tomas, Manila Philippines under the care of the Dominican Fathers. He underwent Spiritual and Pastoral Formation for one year under St. Joseph Regional Seminary, Jairo, Iloilo City, Philippines.

Before coming to Australia to continue his journey, Fr. Casabuena had been actively involved in the Parish Programs and Organizations, School and Campus Ministries as well as working in a BPO company and part time university Instructor. It was Father Robert Carrillo who assisted and helped him in his entrance to the Archdiocese of Perth during Archbishop Emeritus Barry Hickey time. He arrived at St. Charles’ Seminary under the Rectorship Of Monsignor Kevin Long in 2014.

He was ordained priest last 1 August 2015 together with Fathers Conor and Stephen who are at present his fellow assistant priests at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

St. Mary’s Cathedral is his first assignment as an Assistant Priest.

Rev Fr CJ Millen

Fr Carmine-John Millen (known as Fr C.J) was born in Kalgoorlie and grew up in several country towns of Meekatharra, Newdegate & Brunswick Junction due to his father’s work as a primary school teacher and principal. Faith of weekend Masses and prayers has been an integral part of his family life. He has three siblings that consists of an elder brother and sister who are both married with children and younger sister.

Prior to starting secondary education (year 8) at St Norbert College in Queens Park his family moved back to Perth. Following secondary graduation he completed a Diploma in Computer Engineering at TAFE and Education Degree at Edith Cowan University. At the same time he worked in many jobs of electronics, telecommunication, Kmart as supervisor, a swimming instructor, in the bank and various others jobs. In spite all this success and experiences, deep down he felt something was missing. With the help and guidance of family, friends, priests, religious and laity, he decided to test a calling to the priesthood. During this time he lived at St Charles Seminary in Guildford, where he completed part of his studies and the other half at Notre Dame University in Fremantle.

He was ordained a Deacon in November 2013 at South Perth and appointed to Mary Mackillop Church Ballajura, where he experienced and learnt a lot. He was ordained a priest in March 2015, and has been appointed to several parishes and schools within the Archdiocese of Perth that include Ballajura, Greenwood, Lockridge and now St Mary’s Cathedral Perth.
