Special birthday coming up – 8 Sept !!!

And we have an extra special birthday in the house coming up !!

The Church celebrates the birth of Our Lady on 8^th September: a tradition emanating from the early centuries of the Church – and each year we here at St Mary’s Cathedral hold a special recital in honour of the birthday of our Patroness !!

Named the ‘Ave Maria’ recital, it features vocal and organ solos and duets – and culminates in a unique arrangement of Schubert’s Ave Maria for 2 pipe organs and vocal duet – sung/played from both ends of the Cathedral !!

This year we are particularly delighted to welcome young Perth organist Raphael Elvish: organist at Guildford Grammar School and St Matthew’s Anglican Church Guildford.

Raphael says: ‘I look forward to joining you for this special concert to celebrate Our Lady and praise her name with song. I am grateful that I can be a part of this great event.’
